Important Data Sources for Aurora Chasing
This page provides links to resources I regularly use for paying attention to aurora conditions.
Located on the roof of the Lodge building, KML’s all-sky webcam updates every five minutes. Look for the chimney in the image at the bottom to roughly identify North. This cam can be very helpful for identifying sky conditions at the tip of the Keweenaw Peninsula. I use this resource very often to compare cloud cover to that of my current location.

The Michigan Aurora Chasers Facebook group helps people in Michigan and surrounding areas chase, photograph and experience the Northern Lights. They welcome people of all experience levels and backgrounds. The posts put up by members serves as a great source of “live aurora sightings.”
Aurorasaurus is the first and only citizen science initiative that tracks auroras around the world via reports on our website and social media.
